china–september 7

September 6th, 2011

Hello from Hailar.  We have just completed our entertaining of foreign visitors at camp.  If you can picture people riding off into the sunset, that  is what you would have seen if you were here.   Horseback riding on the grasslands was the favorite activity of  the week.   Our good friend provided many opportunities for lasting friendships.   On our rafting trips, we saw nature and local culture in its finest, but, our bike trip proved to be the most grueling–as lost a camera case–and backtracking over the windy terrain was very tiring–and unfruitful:(   Yurt living was another unforgettable experience for our guests, the week began hot and mosquito infested, but then the weather then dipped to freezing.

We are back in town now, and need guidance and wisdom from our father in coming to agreement with a former employee   and trust for good results.

I am doing some prep work for the upcoming camp on the 19th of the month, helping at the school on the weekends, and also catching up on relationships in town.  It seems like time stands still, but then, vanishes.

After four years of renovating Camp h2o, it is now open to guests!  They  have already hosted three camp training weekends, a Children’s Day for 200 people, and an English Camp.  September 9-11 they will formally celebrate everything that God has done to bring this amazing facility into being.  Neal & Kathy Gaalswyk will be in Poland September 1-16 to assist with the Grand Opening celebration  of Camp  h2o, to  serve Lakewood-supported missionaries Dan & Laura Hash, Greg & Heidi Carlson (Poland), and Brian & Aleisha Stephens (Czech Republic),  and whatever work projects still need to be completed.

china –august 27

August 27th, 2011

The time I am spending in Hailar is not what I envisioned.  Although the English school opened today and I helped Claudia out, I have been turned away by the orphanage.  Even Xin Jin (who works at the foreign affairs office) was not able to get me  an opportunity to help— in anyway needed.   Have been using my time planning the week of activities for a couple of foreign visitors (from Switzerland) who are coming to the camp on Monday, the 29th.  Read the rest of this entry »
